welcome to the second release on a new record label, real balearic. we are record label based in ibiza and london. we were set up by the team who brought you the world famous real ibiza series of compilations and released the very first cafe del mar compilation. we are passionate about music and in particular music with a thread that runs to the musical sounds of ibiza and the balearic islands. whilst we may chill out with the best of them it is not what we are all about. balearic techno, balearic disco, ambient soundscapes, classical interludes, sun-drenched chords, sunset grooves, moon-washed rhythms, and just about anything that grabs us.

und, mor elian is a relatively new name on the block, but her deft tastes have seen her share the stage with the likes of kerri chandler, mike dunn, seven davis jnr, dj qu and many more, and most recently, releasing her debut vinyl release on the excellent prime numbers label, featuring fxhes ob ignitt on remix duties. on drum vortex, mor strikes a killer release for hypercolour, enlisting two big remixes on the release from joey anderson and markus suckut. on her original mix, drum vortex rolls out a ricocheting drum workout that indeed goes through the vortex, otherworldly voices and cosmic drones sit in the middle of the mix whilst the rides and hats intensify. joey anderson has proven himself as one of the most diverse house producers out there, with offerings for dekmantel, syncrophone recordings and tanstaafl planets. joey remodels drum vortex into an old style warehouse dub, rolling congas and snares with incessant synth stabs and bending strings, making up for one serious remix from mr. anderson. another interpretation is on offer from markus suckut, whose techno prowess has shone for labels like rekids, be as one, mosaic and his own exile label (run with johannes heil)

electronic music has always had a special affiliation with space, and the sounds of the cosmos. an inherent love of all things sci-fi, galactic and otherworldy has always been a common thread, especially with techno producers, and so its always a pleasure to come into greater contact with the science of these sounds when creating new music. project alma is a new collaboration between lucianos cadenza records label and the alma sounds initiative that bridges two sets of individual passions, that of lucianos love for music, and alma astronomer antonio hales love of the universe.

dj teech and taurus impex limited are the pseudonyms chosen by marieu and lucretio for their unconventional output, and already signed by berceuse heroique and knick knacks yoda. -coup d etat- is a collection of 4 cutting edge tracks at the boundaries of techno and house music. -digital bacteria- and -cgl- are two dancefloor minimalistic busters with a quick pace, with shuffled percussion and heavy digital sub basses coded over a steel cyberpunk texture. -pitchblacky- and -the perennial- have a very slow tempo but are injected of stinging hi tech funk enclosing a jacky essence that pour out from its experimental superstructure.

escapism, the berlin party series, steps over the threshold into label territory after putting on quality techno nights in the german capital for more than two and a half years. kicking off the label is the polish born and berlin-based glos, who is well known for his work on ressort imprint. on prayers three original tracks showcase his love for ambient music, as well as intelligent techno and sound design. belgian newcomer border one (wolfskuil, stockholm ltd) is in charge of remix duties, taking the slow churning groove of collapse and transforming it into dance floor focused material.

earlier this year, dekmantel announced the signing of robert hood for a new project titled paradygm shift. over the course of three different eps, which will eventually evolve into an album, the detroit but now alabama based legend presents paradygm shift. hood: -the idea behind paradygm shift is similar to a shift in our focus. we can become so complacent, we are so comfortable with our surroundings, i think this is the time for electronic music to find a new mindset volume ii serves up two more killer techno floor bombs by the never disappointing originator. master jack is a classy and deadly effective cut that gets its strength from a simple, yet biting stack of funky chords, while pulsating bass lines and rattling hats are holding it together. more fast-paced action can be found on magnet,a no-nonsense, minimalist stomper you can store in your peak-time section. refined techno action times two, but what did you expect?

onnsets sixth release is delivered by uk artist patrick bolton. prognosis ep consists of three original techno tracks plus a remix of the title track by damien schneider.

hard edged metallic beat techno, shawn o sullivan picks up right we he left off on his last -this coercion pt.i- ep earlier this year. again we get driving, sharp machine music not so far from the birmingham school of the 90s sound with this latest ep. o sullivan has a knack with eloquently pummeling the listener as demonstrated here, the track fully automated being the perfect example as it airs out midway through taking a break from the punishment. top stuff..

mainly known for his work on the prolific m_rec ltd, our attention to marco’s techno came from tracks released on cleric’s label c l e r g y, very soon after a line of communication was opened and demo tracks were created.

golden parachutes is a unique, collaborative musical effort comprised of stewart walker (us/berlin) and touane (italy/berlin). following five years of collaborative live-performances and techno releases through stewart’s persona records imprint, here the duo has decided to co-mingle their influences from afrobeat and progressive jazz into a boundary-free exploration. liberated from the constraints of repetitive, pounding kick drums, they unveil a new sound of timbral fluidity built-up from live and sequenced instruments. more than just music, their innovative approach delivers 43 minutes of consummate aural landscapes that pull the listener in head first. as the title ‘into the dark grey morning’ suggests the album takes you on a sweet atmospheric journey where melodic washes of colour and light flicker illumination into the dark clouds of monochromatic noise and reverb compositions, evoking fresh beginnings in electronic music... like a light at the end of the tunnel. as level records third long-play release, ‘into the dark grey morning’ is an unexpected turn away from the labels normal tendencies. with it’s live-instrumental melodies layered over sweeping electronic backdrops the album dips deeply into progressive rock waters and surfaces with a contemporary krautrock sound, logically delivered by a label from düsseldorf, the birthplace of krautrock music.

sound and rhythm are effective means of individuals self-defence in face of chaotic steamroller of everyday life. hiding in a familiar yet simultaneously hardly recognisable parallel space does not have to result from the need of escaping the world or nurturing one’s ego. too many times to mention, music appearing under recognition imprint served as a peculiar type of a vehicle of survival and a tool for internal transformation. hideland, new record by polish electronic music producer jacek sienkiewicz is released precisely year after drifting, which largely explored tropes of classical club techno sound. eight (nine in extended cd version) tracks comprising this album go beyond easy-to-pigeonhole genres, creating a microcosm of utopian sound constructs. surprisingly unobvious and precisely composed release could be fascinating both for loyal fans and for new listeners looking for threads of experimentalism. its another intriguing proposal in jacek sienkiewiczs growing discography, but above all - a laboratory where dreams and artistic visions metamorphose into concrete reality.

nandu returns with full force on off recordings with glömde, a high strung melodic techno cut consisting of one original track and two revamps

french producers dj deep and traumer pair up for their debut on radio slave’s rekids. a key component in parisian techno since the ‘90s, dj deep’s influence is indisputable whether it’s helming deeply rooted house records, launching his own rotary dj mixer series or his numerous appearances on tresor records alongside gettraum founder roman poncet, who appears on this release as traumer. ‘la valle la b’ comes in three forms. the ‘la deep mix’ is an echoing number complete with rhythmic percussion and rumbling bass, whilst ‘la slave mix’ is a glitchier alternative featuring various subtle nuances and otherworldly atmospherics. finally ‘la spicy mix’ concludes the package with a focus on piercing synths and a compelling groove.

the second release presents a new front left artist – daito (lenny jäzosch). daito is the japanese term for different kinds of swords, used by samurais. this describes his sharp and detailed sound without the lack of emotions & soul. being a regular raver, his productions are dance floor motivated, containing special moments that can be felt when you are dancing to it. his influence comes from an earlier style of techno with a raw and inspiring sound. on the b-side, you will find elad magdasi – a regular front left raver who debuted on the first release(finger trip ep). his style is classic, diverse and 90s influenced. elad is returning with two different types of techno creations.

nonplus 035 passes the torch to finnish producer samuli kemppi who’s built a solid back catalogue over the last 15 years and in that time has also become a pioneer of electronic music in helsinki. his radio show deep space helsinki (alongside juho) developed into one of the cities most popular club nights and also into his shared record label dsh. his debut on nonplus brings us 3 slices of no nonsense deep space techno.

the first release on the perth imprint cosi cosi, basic mind’s “grotto” catalyses some of the great innovations of both continental and atlantic analogue techno, 80s formalism, late drexciyan funk, darkroom acid, and indeed is one of australia’s purest sources of that ultra-orthodox, hardware-based sound.

the mix is influenced heavily by how i used to dj at the first party i ever promoted, named seismic, and another named monox which was a straight up techno night where i was a resident from the age of 17. and although it wasn’t my plan, it turned into a kind of tribute to the cities that really formulated me as a dj: detroit, chicago and glasgow.

the hidden meaning of number 13 is change, the death of something and its rebirth. this is the idea behind gabriel dor & bordoys new album 13, which is meant to be a turning point on their career. influenced by old school techno but also by modern sounds, after 6 years of production partnership, theyve decided to release their first entirely unpublished lp. the album, made out of 13 cuts, starts with a dark intro that paves the way into a forceful kind of techno, followed by vintage sounds with gloomy touches and sometimes even emotional ones. they have used many instruments and samples discovered along the way on this composition process, plus lots of others found in the previous years. the sounds put together on this album have been carefully picked to preserve their uniqueness, while trying to walk on a different path.

the true techno dream team of dubfire & oliver huntemann revisit their elements project from a few years ago with a new series of killer remixes, ahead of a retrospective album coming later in the year. terra - originally released in 2011, did all sorts of damage to dance-floors across the globe. now, its all set to do it again thanks to this joseph capriati remix. the italian techno headliner has grown into a major force on the scene in recent years, and here delivers a signature slice of muscular, driving techno - taut, dramatic and devastating. paired with a remix of the now seminal feugo julien jeweils remix also hits the spot - the track received a 2016 overhaul with some of jeweils signature flair. the frenchman has been a constant figure on the top of various charts and line ups for some time, and its easy to see why - fuego is stripped back machine funk primed for big systems and even bigger moments.

after showcasing the debut releases from the high on wye quintet (magic mountain high, soulphiction and steevio) and monoak, the freerotation label returns with a various artists 12” featuring four more artists intrinsically linked by the annual festival. anthony child, aka surgeon, has been a regular fixture since first appearing at freerotation in 2011. his recent exploration of modular synthesis and use of the buchla music easel has found a home in the ambient yurt at the festival, and equally has manifested in album projects such as 2015’s electronic recordings from maui jungle vol 1. “unconscious fearless determination” follows on from this more experimental, less dancefloor-focused side to child’s work, while still pulsing with the techno fundamentals that quickly defined him back in the mid ‘90s. duckett hails from north wales, and has been a key part of the freerotation fabric since the beginning of the event. after some releases on mindtours, mindyourhead and sthlmaudio back in the mid-‘00s, his music has started to reach a new audience through releases on untilmyheartstops and a clutch of lauded live performances. “breaks my heart when i remember that day” captures the alien synthesis and emotional heft that singles duckett out as such a remarkable artist. steevio is the co-founder of freerotation and mindtours records, responsible for a huge swathe of techno releases reaching back to the ‘90s. as well as his releases on mindtours, he has recently appeared on untilmyheartstops and in collaboration with pev on schmorgabsord, and is set to appear on russ gabriel’s new label rivers of groove. with its expressive swells of off-kilter melody and snaking drum lines, “pendulum” continues the thread of exploration steevio has been following on his journey into experimental modular techno. tom ellis has been prolifically issuing forth material in a soul-enriched space in between house, techno and funk for more than ten years. from running the acclaimed trimsound label to releasing albums and singles on telegraph, archipel, hartchef discos and more recently ethereal sound to name but a few, tom’s recorded work and immersive live performances continue to reach out to new moods and timbres. “as a take” finds tom at his most reflective, layering on dubby effects and organic instrumentation in a truly meditative end to the ep.

ep number four of this series of eight remastered tracks with remix-tributes to the techno legend christian morgenstern is here, and kicks off with d_funcs remix of steigreider on side a. creating a warm grayscale atmosphere, the track is carried by a heavy sub kick groove thats saturated with the modern industrial energy that proves kowalski’s skills as a techno craftsman. as a contrast, jeroen searchs remix of aces high on b1 is a more minimal interpretation, carried by a slowly developing beat and playing skillfully with the most recognisable elements of the original. the final track, a remastered version of morgensterns lydia to the edge of panic is a timeless classic, painting a morgenstern-typical distant and dream like landscape and opening up into a widescreen chord progression, with an epic build up.

gouru is launching its own label, submersive, with an ep from brendon moeller aka. echologist, including a remix from french duo hbtvsk (voiski & heartbeat).in 2014, to celebrate the 4th birthday of the webzine gouru, brendon moeller and hbtvsk were invited to play at la machine du moulin rouge (paris). following a car accident on his way to the airport of new york, brendon was unable to appear and play. to make up for this unfortunate incident, gouru offered brendon the inauguration of its new label submersive, and invited heartbeat & voiski aka hbtvsk, the duo he was supposed to share the stage with, to remix one track. 2 years later, the first ep of the label gathers all 3 artists who were not able to share the decks on stage, on the same record. as brendon himself says , “all good things take time” and instead of evoking the nostalgy of a party that did not happen, the record opens the doors of the imagination and takes us to a powerful collaboration between 2 artists’ generations, thereby showing us the techno scene at its best.zur opens the ball and sets the tone of the ep, a dub and progressive rise, based on a cyclic structure, punctuated by a random reverb. tension is maintained throughout and finally leaves room to filth, whose rhythm is faster, unrestrained, yet keeps an air of suspense and unpredictability - the perfect soundtrack for an exhausting race. looking for trouble plays on a more hypnotic side. with a dark yet electrifying atmosphere, rhythms are exalted by a strident and piercing melody, evolving alongside uncontrollable sounds, throwing us straight into a cosmic trip. faithful to the spirit of the ep, the filth remix delivered by hbtvsk is a perfect exercise of style. without denaturing the original track, the remix revisits it. its’ heavy, powerful mechanism is, at the same time, accurate and sharpened. certain parts of the original track are easily recognizable, which finally get lost in the subtle gearwheel of an anthem tinted by noise.
